Snow Daze ;-)

Well, it is certainly not news to most of those out there that Louisville recieved a bit of snow...but for those of you that do not live here let me tell you that a little snow has a lot of power in these parts! Unfortunutely , it's all stopping power! We went up to the Seminary yesterday for our usual Monday outing to Kidfit, generally this is a 20-30 min drive from our house. Everything went well until it was time to go. The snow was coming down pretty heavily and the kids thought it was fantastic, so they played in it for the few minutes it takes to walk out to the van and load everyone up. It was beautiful coming down. Then, I started to drive....
I had not even gotten out of the parking lot when I began to slide! Probably not a good sign;-(. When I got to the road I found it to be slam packed with cars creeping along at 10-15 mph. Ok, now I am a Texan and as such I am not used to winter weather conditions, but 10 mph!!! Come on!
Anyway, this seemed to be the going pace all the way around Louisville...James was on a hwy downtown and a friend of ours (whose children I had with me) was on a different hwy on the other side of town...all of us were headed in the same direction. It took the kids and I 2 and a half hours to get home! James came in about 20 minutes later and I think Paula(our friend) was about the same time as James...what chaos! Paula's family is from Minnesota and her husband rightly said that all those from below the Mason Dixon line should stay off the roads! So, today we took his advice and just hung out at the house, we used the oppurtunity to catch up on some school work;-) ...and play a little. It was fun but not my favorite time of year. Don't get me wrong, I love the snow...when it is fresh and powdery. But when it is slushy, like today, I can definitely do without it. As for the kids they'll take it in any form they can get it!

I'm a native of Louisville and I'll confess, I don't know how or like to drive in snow. Bring on the Spring!!
